# Split view > Two tabs side by side in one window, each with its own editor, results and limits. Made by dragging one tab onto another; undone with one click. Source: https://docs.querylab.io/tabs-organization/split-view/ **sidebar → Workspace** A split shows as one row holding both tabs. Hover either half for the Unsplit button. ## Making a split Drag a tab in the Workspace list and drop it **onto** another tab (not between two, which reorders). A preview shows the two names side by side with a dashed border before you let go. The dragged tab lands on the right. Other places that open a split for you: - The results footer's history menu: **Open Query in Split View** and **Open Results in Split View** put an older run next to the current tab. - Clicking a column in a table's **Schema** tab, or a cell drill-down, opens the target next to what you were looking at. A drill-down that would replace an existing split asks first. - Both tabs are query tabs, table/dataset tabs, or Google Sheet tabs; notebooks, Settings and History can't be split - Neither tab is already in a split - The window is wider than a phone; on narrow screens splits are dissolved ## Working in a split Each pane is the full tab: its own editor, **Run Query** button, results grid, status bar with byte limit, billing project and TABLESAMPLE. Running one side never touches the other. The split itself is the active item in the Workspace list; clicking its row brings both back. Drag the divider to resize. It stops at 20% and 80%, and the ratio is remembered per split. ## Ending a split - Hover a half of the split row and click **Unsplit**. Both tabs stay open; one becomes active. - Middle-click the split row. Same as Unsplit. - Click **×** at the top right of the right pane. That tab closes and the other one fills the window. - Close either tab any other way. The split dissolves. You can't drag a tab out of a split; unsplit and drag again. ## Comparing two queries A split is for working on two things; to _diff_ them use [Data compare](https://docs.querylab.io/data-management/data-compare/).
