# Sharing queries
> A link that opens your SQL in someone else's Querylab.io, in a new tab, ready to run with their credentials. Set an expiry when you create it and revoke it at any time.

- Share Link: https://app.querylab.io/s/8c9f799d-b98e-41ca-baf4-2561c9eb9a27#k=q…. Expires: Sep 4, 2026 (7 days)
Only logged-in users can view this link.
Your query is encrypted before leaving your device. The decryption key
is only in the link - we cannot read your query on our servers.
The link is ready. Copy Link and Close puts it on the clipboard.
## Creating a link
Any of these opens the dialog for the active tab:
- The editor's ⋯ menu → **Share**
- Right-click the tab in the Workspace list → **Share Query** (**Share Notebook** on a notebook tab)
- Right-click inside the editor → **Share Query**
- In a notebook, the toolbar ⋮ menu → **Share Notebook**
Pick a **Link expiration** (**1 hour**, **1 day**, **7 days** (default), **30 days** or **Never**) and click **Create Share Link**. The link looks like
```
https://app.querylab.io/s/8c9f799d-…-2561c9eb9a27#k=qX3v…
```
Anyone who has the whole link and is signed in can open it. Querylab.io can't read the query on its servers.
- You're signed in. Playground can't create links, and the desktop app needs a Querylab.io sign-in, not just local Google credentials
- The tab has SQL (or the notebook has at least one cell)
## What's in the link
| | Query | Notebook |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Querylab.io can't read | The SQL text | All cells: SQL, text, chart configs, cell names, byte limits |
| Querylab.io can read | Tab name, expiry | Tab name, expiry |
| Not included | Results, billing project, per-tab limits | Results, billing projects, destination tables |
## Who can open it
The recipient must be signed in to Querylab.io. If your account belongs to an organization, the dialog adds **Organization members only.** and the link refuses anyone outside it. This is automatic; there is no way to make a link public.
## What the recipient sees
The query opens in a new tab named after your tab (or **Shared Query** / **Shared Notebook** if it had no name), with a _Shared query opened_ toast. It runs on their billing project, under their permissions, against whatever tables they can see. Nothing links back to you: if they edit it, your link still serves the original.
An expired or revoked link shows _Could not open shared query - invalid or expired link_.
## Managing your links
`⌘`
`K` → **Manage shared queries** opens a **Shared Queries** tab listing
the links you've created, with their expiry. **Revoke** stops the link working
immediately; it can't be restored.
